Fanless Orin Nano box PC with the highest max operating temperature

Asked as: “Desert kiosk, fanless only: which Orin Nano box PC has the highest max operating temperature?”

Answered by the Rapidflare agent

Two fanless Orin Nano box PCs share the top spot at 80 °C: the Diamond Systems JetBox-Jackson and the Connect Tech Rudi-NX FPD-Link III. Of the 56 fanless Box PCs that support Orin Nano, 52 have a maximum operating temperature listed, and I ranked those. The other 4 have no figure listed, so I can't say how they compare.

Things to check before you choose:

  • Rudi-NX and Orin Nano: Orin Nano support for this unit is only partly confirmed. One field lists both Orin NX and Orin Nano, but its description and supported-products field mention only Orin NX. Please confirm Orin Nano support with Connect Tech before choosing it. connecttec...connecttech.com ↗“Connect Tech Rudi-NX fanless rugged edge AI system on Jetson Orin NX”
  • JetBox-Jackson power input: it takes 8-20 VDC with Orin NX, but 5 VDC ±5% with Orin Nano. Keep this in mind when planning the kiosk's power supply. diamondsys...diamondsystems.com ↗“8-20VDC input (Orin NX), 5VDC +/-5% (Orin Nano)”
  • Conditions on the 80 °C rating: no conditions are listed for either unit (for example, needing airflow or a certain power mode).
  • Dust sealing: neither unit has an IP rating listed, which matters in a desert. I couldn't confirm whether they're sealed against dust.

Next tier: 70 °C. Several fanless Orin Nano units are rated to 70 °C. Many of them only hold that rating under certain conditions:

  • NEXCOM ATC 3520-IP7-4C: IP67-rated, with an operating range of -30 to 70 °C that depends on power mode and PoE load. Its spec table gives -30 to 65 °C at 25 W, while a feature bullet says up to 70 °C. ai.nexcom...ai.nexcom.com ↗“The spec table gives -30 to 65 C at 25W; a feature bullet on the same page says up to 70 C.”

  • Lanner EAI-I131: -40 to 70 °C, with no conditions listed. lannerinc...lannerinc.com ↗“-40 to 70 °C, 5G”
  • Advantech MIC-712-ON and Vecow EAC-6200-AR04/AR08: both rated to 70 °C, but only with airflow. advantech... +1advantech.com ↗“thermal.operating_temp_condition=Requires airflow”vecow.com ↗“thermal.operating_temp_condition=Requires airflow, Depends on power mode”

If you need both 80 °C and confirmed dust sealing, I couldn't find a fanless Orin Nano box PC that has both. The 80 °C units have no IP rating listed, and the IP67 units are rated to 70 °C.
