3U CompactPCI Serial Jetson boards for a non-VPX rack

Asked as: “Our rack is 3U CompactPCI Serial, not VPX. Which Jetson board in that form factor fits?”

Answered by the Rapidflare agent

Two Jetson boards are built for 3U CompactPCI Serial: the Elma JetKit-3010 and the Advantech MIC-332AO. All the other boards in this category are 3U VPX, VNX+ or other non-CompactPCI form factors.

How they differ:

  • MIC-332AO has much more compute because it uses AGX Orin. It also has 4 GMSL camera inputs, a serial port, and a listed shock rating of 10G / 11ms and vibration rating of 2.0 Grms (5–500 Hz). It supports JetPack 6.2, and its certifications are CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS. Its 70 °C rating only applies with airflow through the chassis. advantech... +3advantech.com ↗“io.gmsl_camera_inputs=4”advantech.com ↗“software.jetpack_version_support=6.2”advantech.com ↗“mechanical.shock_rating=10G / 11ms”advantech.com ↗“thermal.operating_temp_condition=Requires airflow”
  • JetKit-3010 is fanless, takes 12 V input and has an SD card slot. Its operating range depends on the power mode and tops out at 50 °C. products.e... +1products.elma.com ↗“thermal.cooling=Fanless”products.elma.com ↗“thermal.operating_temp_condition=Depends on power mode”

The two TOPS figures aren't directly comparable. The Xavier figure is dense INT8 and the Orin figure is sparse INT8.

To narrow it down, check your chassis cooling (forced air or not), your highest ambient temperature, and how much compute you need. If you have forced airflow and need Orin-class AI or GMSL cameras, the MIC-332AO fits better. If the slot has no airflow and stays at or below 50 °C, the fanless JetKit-3010 fits better.
